We've prepared a document listing 77 benefits of Metallbau's light
gauge steel frame construction. The complete document can be found in
our marketing brochure. Rather than explain all 77 here, we've listed
some key advatages available to each participant on the customer's building
team.
Owner:
Many 'life-cycle' benefits accrue to the Owner including the potential
for lower fire insurance rates; less water damage from leaking plumbing;
stiffer floors; lower maintenance, higher resale value and less warranty
issues. LGSF buildings do not have warping, shrinking, dry rot, mildew,
termites, and other problems associated with wood.
Building
Occupants: LGSF buildings are stronger, safer in earthquakes and lightning
storms, and hypoallergenic. Because LGSF is non-combustible, special uses
like nursing homes and retirement housing projects are natural applications.
Because LGSF easily supports concrete slab floors, sound attenuation can
also be economically increased for a truly quiet building.
Architects:
LGSF provides more design flexibility because of the non-combustible nature
of steel. Larger floor plates, less firewalls and other benefits accrue.
Because there is virtually no vertical shrinkage with steel, detailing
for vertical shrinkage can be eliminated. LGSF can be shown to be a 'greener'
product as well. Most importantly you're providing your client with a
superior building system.
Contractors:
Metallbau Group provides the General Contractor and his subcontractors
with many benefits including cleaner sites; reduced dump fees, straighter
studs with no call-backs; no dry-out problems caused by wet-weather; and
no nail-pops. Metallbau Group's shop drawing system also supports the
other subcontractors on the job with simplified shop drawing information
that assists their speed and accuracy.
Sub-Contractors:
By working closely with major subcontractors, Metallbau Group aids
the efficiency with which electrical, plumbing, and other sub-contractors
can locate and install their materials. Our shop drawings locate plumbing
more quickly and efficiently, and we even pre-punch our wall tracks (top
and bottom plates) for the electrical subcontractor.
Building
Inspectors: Metallbau Group's product identification information and
tagging systems greatly facilitate the learning process which most building
inspectors face on their first steel project.
