In 1994, as co-owner and employees of a start-up company in central California that pioneered LGSF for use in the single family residential market, our staff was instrumental in developing software systems, manufacturing techniques, assembly methods, and field installation procedures. In 1997 our staff sold their interest in that company and started CyberSteel (CS), a new full-service framing company located in Portland, Oregon. CS has built close to a million square feet of multi-family, multi-story projects including assisted care living centers, apartments, dormitories, and condominiums. Those projects were built by our own CS construction crews in California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and South Dakota, where CS gained experience in a wide variety of working environments.

Our founder is a licensed architect who wrote the CyberSteel™ proprietary CAD software used by Metallbau. LGSF represents a prime opportunity to automate the steel design process. In fact, the use of load-bearing wall panels really couldn't be done economically without specialized software!

Over the past five years CyberSteel has developed some of the industry's most powerful software tools and a unique system of subcontractor coordination drawings that benefit all the subcontractors, including MEP. In future, CyberSteel itself will focus exclusively on further development of software products to help expand the LGSF industry.

In 2003, we started Metallbau Group and designed a strategy to focus on an under-served market for consulting services, shop drawings, coordination services, and component manufacturing for the LGSF industry. This mix of services and products allows us to expand the number of geographic areas that we can serve, while also focusing on our core skills.

Metallbau Group (MG) is not a framing subcontractor as such, but does supply services and products to the construction industry. Others do the actual job site framing installation, while MG supports them as needed. Metallbau can provide consulting for your LGSF project-even if we aren't chosen to fabricate the framing components.

MG presents a unique combination of services and products. We believe our offerings will provide advantages and flexibility to all members of the building team, including owners, developer, and contractors. These offerings are not provided at this time by any other vendor-no matter how large.
