Each
of the LGSF industry players approaches the framingbusiness from a different
point of view. Players may choose to combine into teams and present alternativestrategies
for delivery of a final LGSF product to the owner and GC. The owner/GC's
team will typically look for the least complicated and easily understood
approach-usually a 'single source' for both LGSF products and installation.
Attempts have been made in the past to combine all of these players into
one vertically integrated company, but up to this point in time, most
attempts have failed to make a lasting impact in the marketplace.
A key reason for this failure is the lack of total construction volume
for LGSF projects within a geographic service area. Small volume cannot
support a dedicated component plant.
Owners, general contractors, and architects and engineers are generally
confused as to how the LGSF 'supply chain' works, since there appear to
be many individual players each vying for a portion of the total LGSF
product-and each with different goals.
